MUMBAI: Actor Sushant Singh Rajput became an household name with Balaji Telefilm’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’ on Zee TV.
He then got lucky and made a smooth transition from television to films with Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Kai Po Che’ which was a run away hit, followed by another hit ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’.
But it seems success has gone into Sushant’s head because he has refused to be a part of Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Fitoor’ opposite Katrina Kaif and has stated a new and fresh reason for not doing the film – date issues.
‘Fitoor’ is an adaptation of Charles Dickens classic ‘The Great Expectations’.
The film was in the news when Ekta Kapoor and Abhishek Kapoor had issues and it was reported that UTV took on the project but now its back in the news for the wrong reason. Post ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, Sushant was offered Shekar Kapur’s ‘Paani’, the project that earlier was supposed to have Hrithik Roshan.
Now Sushant grabbed this offer and allotted all his dates to Shekhar Kapoor thus leaving none for Abhishek. Sushant attempted to request Abhishek to postpone the shooting of ‘Fitoor’, but Abhishek was very sure of what and how he wanted his film to be shot and has already started hunting for the leading actor for his film.
If sources close to Sushant are to be believed then he had allotted dates to ‘Fitoor’ this year and had kept himself free but the shoot schedule was pushed from its original October 2013 schedule to March 2014 and further to July 2014.
Now this clashes with Sushant’s dates that he has allotted for ‘Paani’ and due to this he had to let go of ‘Fitoor’.
This is not the first time when an actor has shown the door to his mentor but what they conveniently forget is if the directors can create them then there is always one waiting to be created.
So, better watch out!
