Varun Dhawan’s Dark Side In Badlapur

Varun-Dhawan [tps_footer]After having received comments from various people from the industry and the outsiders that he just fits to be a lover-boy, Varun Dhawan is all set to break the misconception with the revenge thriller, Badlapur. The makers enticed audience with the first look of Varun; where he was seen sporting an intense and revengeful look, which passed the message of his grey or dark character in the movie.

The trailer opens with a powerful dialogue in the backdrop “ Log Kehte Hai Apne Dushman Ko Maaf Kardena Chahiye, Main Bhi Yahi Maanta Hun, Lekin Unhe Tadpa Tadpa ke Maarne ke Baad” (people say we should forgive our enemies, I do believe in forgiving enemies, but only after torturing them to death) and the actor is seen in the mode of revenge, all set to go murderous. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s fraction of seconds frame tells enough of him being evil with a sinister smile on his face. Huma Qureshi, Yami Gautam and Divya Dutta has a blink and miss presence in the trailer. The trailer shows two sides of Raghu (Varun Dhawan) first is a young guy and another is the middle-aged man. As the trailer progresses Raghu is seen transforming from an innocent eye youngster to a man whose eyes are filled with pain and revenge due to losing everything in his life.
Sharing his experience about playing Raghu in the film the actor to a leading tabloid said, “It drained me. I had slipped into depression, as after a point it no longer felt like I was acting in a film. The experience was that terrifying. Sriram really made me suffer. Even when the camera was off, he was shooting me. It was a reality check of a different kind because till then I had been leading a rather insulated life, both in real life and reel.”
Talking about his character in the film, Varun further added, “I can’t go into the specifics, but my character in the revenge drama is a guy working in an ad agency who starts a family. You will see me as a father on the screen for the first time.”
The actor, who never did thought of fitting and pulling off the character of Raghu successfully, said it was the director’s faith in him. The only question Varun asked the directed after being terrified listening the script of Badlapur was, “Why me?” and the director, Sriram said, “Because you have innocent eyes, something my character needs.” Following to this response, Varun signed the movie.
 Badlapur is directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan & Sunil Lulla. The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Yami Gautam, Huma Qureshi, Vinay Pathak, Radhika Apte & Divya Dutta in pivotal roles. the movie is slated to release in February 2015.
