MUMBAI: Bollywood Filmmaker Boney Kapoor recently announced his intention to make a ‘Mr. India’ Part 2. While everyone wondered whether this would be a remake or a sequel, Boney dropped the bomb on us: There would be no Mogambo!
Putting other doubts to rest Boney revealed that it’s certainly not a remake. As for Mogambo, who was played memorably back in 1987 by the Late Amrish Puri, Boney now plans a new villain.
“Obviously, there won’t be a Mogambo unless we are remaking the same film. As of now, we don’t have plans of remaking the same film. We are working on a sequel. If there is a sequel, Mogambo won’t be there, there would be a new villain,” said Kapoor.
Talking about who he is thinking of casting, Boney said, “If I had my way, I would plan every film with Salman Khan. But this is not in my hands, it will be according to the script.”
What about wife and ‘Hawa Hawai’ girl Sridevi who has there in the original opposite Anil Kapoor?
“Well, of course she (Sridevi) will be a part of ‘Mr. India 2’ for sure. We are yet to finalize a script. Along with Anil, she will be part of it. My journey with her began with ‘Mr. India’, so obviously the journey has to continue and how can it continue without her, especially when it’s ‘Mr. India’?”
For now though, fans will have to wait for this sequel to ‘Mr. India’, Kapoor is currently busy with this Salman Khan starrer ‘No Entry Mein Entry’.
