MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha and the couple’s alleged affair made headlines in the 80’s. The couple who shared screen-space in several films from ‘D Anjaane’ to ‘Kasme Vaade’, ‘Mr. Natwarlal’, ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’ and the most happening of all and their last ‘Silsila’ are set to stage a comeback ‘together’ after 22 years.
Director Anees Bazmee is reportedly in talks with both the actors who have not seen each other eye-to-eye ever since 1981. The director of ‘Welcome’, which starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif wants Amitabh-Rekha to grace the screen for the sequel ‘Welcome Back’.
Amitabh Bachchan is being approached to play the Late. Feroz Khan’s role as the don, while Rekha is being approached to play a fashionista.
Anees Bazmee says, “Bachchan saab has done many roles in the past but I can assure you that this one will be very terrific and special for him. The role will also be longer than what Feroz saab essayed.”
Meanwhile a source close to the film says, “Neither Amitabh nor Rekha have expressed any apprehensions about working together in ‘Welcome Back’. And they do have scenes together.”
‘Welcome Back’ also stars John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar.
With Amitabh-Rekha joining the stellar star-cast it truly will be a moment of royal ‘Welcome’ especially to see Amitabh-Rekha on screen after 22 years! That’s a long time and more importantly it is the iconic jodi that one is talking about! Are there any more reasons to curb our expectations?
