Why Akshay Kumar Slashed His Fee By 50% For ‘Special Chabbis’

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has full faith in the director Neeraj Pandey's work. So much so, that he has decided to do his upcoming film 'Special Chabbis' for half of his regular fee!

MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar is proud to be working with filmmaker Neeraj Pandey after the director’s previous venture ‘A Wednesday’. The Bollywood star has full faith in the director’s work. So much so, that he has decided to do his upcoming film ‘Special Chabbis’ for half of his regular fee!

Akshay Kumar is not at all worried how this move will come across to the Industry since he says this time, he is targeting a different base of audience.

Says Akshay, “Every film has different budget and different set of audience. Looking at the audience for this film I have charged half my remuneration in comparison to what I charge for other films.”

“I did so because I did not want to put pressure on this film. It is a great product and I am sure people will like it .. I enjoyed it. I am proud to be associated with it,” added the actor.

What attracted the actor was the story of the film, which is based on a real-life heist: Back in 1987, an income tax raid was performed at the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri in Mumbai, where some men portraying to be CBI officials fled with jewellery worth lakhs.

“To do a film on a real incident is a different experience” says the 45-year-old actor who will be playing the fake CBI officer named Ajay Singh.

Praising the filmmaker Akshay adds, “Neeraj did all the homework as it’s his story, his screenplay.. I only followed what he said. I do three-four films a year.. this is Neeraj’s second film after ‘A Wednesday’. So he did all the homework.”

Kumar is also very fond of his co-star Kajal Aggarwal (who was last seen in Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham’).

“She (Kajal) is beautiful, talented and professional. She has learnt so much from down south. She fitted the character very well. The bonding was very good with her. I enjoyed working with her.

Akshay Kumar who has had back to back successful films like ‘Housefull 2’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘Oh My God’ in 2012, is very confident of making it big this year too!
