December 20, 2013 was the day Dhoom 3 had hit the silver screen and the film went on to create Box Office history for Aamir Khan. Now once again Aamir Khan starrer P.K. is set to release around that time.
Christmas season seems to spell magic for Aamir Khan‘s films and continuing with the trend, the makers of his upcoming film P.K. have decided to release it about a week before Christmas. P.K. is set for a December 19, 2014 release.
“Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films, in association with Disney India, confirm that P.K. shall release on December 19, 2014,” said an official statement.
The political satire was slated to release in June this year but it got delayed. Rajkumar Hirani, who is also directing the film, had earlier said that most of Aamir Khan‘s films release during Christmas and they have done well.
Aamir Khan’s Dhoom3, 3 Idiots as well as Taare Zameen Par had hit screens around Christmas. Now by doing so, Aamir Khan has essayed a role of a big brother to Ranbir Kapoor and has avoided the clash of Ranbir starrer Bombay Velvet with P.K.which is due to release on December 25, 2014.
Interest levels in the movie have been very high, ever since a photo of Aamir Khan wearing a Lehenga for the film were leaked. The paparazzi recently spotted Khan in the capital city’s Dilli Haat, shooting major scenes. The thinking star was seen with paan-stained lips sporting a yellow helmet, wearing a transistor like a sling bag, holding a bunch of yellow pamphlets, and chasing a behroopiya dressed like Shiva.
Director Rajkumar Hirani had hinted in an earlier interview that the film will be a satire about God and Godmen.
So come December 2014, the year will have a grand bang end with P.K., and Bombay Velvet coming on different dates for the benefit of the audience and the industry.
P.K. also features actor Sanjay Dutt, Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput.
