This week’s two new releases were Akshay Kumar’s Baby and Sonam Kapoor’s “Dolly Ki Doli”. Both the films did not do so well on its initial day in box office, but as the weekend followed, ‘Baby’ and ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ finally picked up some speed. However, the collection of Akshay Kumar’s “Baby” has surpassed that of Sonam Kumar’s “Dolly Ki Doli”.
According to reports, the total weekend collection of “Dolly Ki Doli” is Rs. 7.10 Crore (71 million), which was very poor compared to Sonam Kapoor’s earlier film “Khoobsurat”, whereas, Akshay Kumar’s “Baby” earned around Rs. 29 Crore (290 million) in its first weekend Box Office.
As per the reports, both the films are doing poor as of now, and should be able to improve. While “Dolly Ki Doli” is doing well in Delhi regions, “Baby” has got coverage in the major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bangalore.
It was predicted well before that Sonam Kapoor’s DKD might face tough competition from “Baby” which has actually come true. As Republic Day is right here, other factors like Akshay Kumar’s acting and Neeraj Pandey’s direction might be some of the reasons why audience prefers “Baby” over “Dolly Ki Doli”.
“Dolly Ki Doli” is a story about a female who cons people under the false pretext of marriage, whereas Akshay Kumar’s “Baby” is the story of India’s unsung heroes who are fighting against terrorism.
