BOX OFFICE: Chennai Express’ Rock-Steady 5 Day Total

MUMBAI: ‘Chennai Express’, directed by Rohit Shetty and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, is showing no signs of slowing down even marginally.

Co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment, ‘Chennai Express’ has been on a record-smashing spree of sorts ever since its release.

As reported, ‘Chennai Express’ shattered Salman Khan’s Eid collections of Rs 32 crore, by garnering Rs 330 million (Rs 33 crore) net on its very first day, 9 August 2013. Saturday and Sunday’s figures too were a whopping Rs 280 million (Rs 28 crore) net and Rs 325 million (Rs 32.5 crore) net respectively. The 3 day total for ‘Chennai Express’ was in the range of a mammoth Rs 935 million (Rs 93.5 crore) net. Including paid previews, the film had already crossed the Rs 1 billion (Rs 100 crore) mark by the opening weekend.

The week began on a great note for ‘Chennai Express’, with Monday and Tuesday’s collections being an impressive Rs 124.1 million (Rs 12.41 crore) net and Rs 113.6 million (Rs 11.36 crore) net respectively.

The first five day total is in the range of a staggering Rs 1.1727 billion (Rs 117.27 crore) net!

Including Thursday’s paid preview figures of Rs 67.5 million (Rs 6.75 crore), the net five-day collections for ‘Chennai Express’ are a sensational Rs 1.24 billion (Rs 124.02 crore) net.
