Box Office: Dil Dhadakne Do First Week Collection

Dil-Dhadakne-Do-Facts-005Bollywood director Zoya Akhtar’s recently released film Dil Dhadakne Do, which opened to a good start at the Box Office on Friday, managed to win audiences hearts. The film managed to touch the predicted numbers and grossed around Rs 55 crores net (550 million) in its first week. The family drama achieved expected opening and is getting major response from big cities like Mumbai and Mysore. Given the less geographic reach of the film it has fared pretty well as smaller centers haven’t taken the film since inception.

Interestingly, the film went on to become biggest worldwide opener of 2015 leaving Kangana Ranaut‘s Tanu Weds Manu Retuns behind. One of the reasons for which can be the star studded image that the film offers. Overseas earning of Dil Dhadakne Do has been better compared to the releases this year among Bollywood films. The film grossed Rs 48 crores net (480 million) approx in India while the overseas collection amounted to $3.15 million (19.50 crore i.e. 195 million) approx. Thus Dil Dhadakne Do is the biggest worldwide opener of 2015 at a total of Rs 67.50 crore approx.

The film received great response from the moviegoers as the occupancy rate throughout film’s first weekend run on the big screen was above 35%. Dil Dhadakne Do, which features some big names from Bollywood such as Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor And Shefali Shah did a good business in cities like like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, East Punjab and Mysore.

Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do tells the story of a dysfunctional Punjabi family on a cruise trip and their complicated lives. With the film’s impressive performance in its first week, we are eager to see how the film fares in its second week by facing competition with Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi starrer Hamari Adhuri Kahani and Hollywood’s awaited film Jurassic Park that are releasing today.
