Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra’s Brothers could not really make the mark on day one as it grossed Rs 13.45 crore (Rs 134.5 million) approx. The film could not perform in the metros especially the multiplexes. The collections in Mumbai city, Delhi city, Kolkata and Bangalore were not upto the mark.
We can easily compare Brothers’ first day reaction to Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back. Yes, the kind of reaction director Karan Malhotra’s Brothers received and is receiving on its first day at the Box Office is very similar to Gabbar Is Back.
The film received occupancy rate of 40% at the Box Office on Friday, which is decent. Now it is expected that India’s 69th Independence Day and the holiday factor will add up as an advantage to Sidharth and Akshay’s Brothers and help the film bring in some really good numbers on its first weekend at the Box Office.
Though the second day which is a holiday for Independence Day, the film needs to jump 70-80% to get over that 50 crore nett mark for the weekend. A 50 crore nett weekend would be a good weekend result normally but here with such a big holiday it would be average at best as it is very unlikely that the film will add 50% on the weekdays to the weekend figure.
Directed by Karan Malhotra, the action drama film, which is an official remake of Hollywood film Warrior, takes us through the rough journey of two estranged brothers, who go against each other in the finale of a boxing competition.
The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles. Produced by Dharma Productions, Lionsgate Films and Endemol India, Brothers is released today and is running really well at the Box Office. Now we wait for the sort of numbers the film succeeds in pulling in on its first day at the Box Office.
