BOX OFFICE: Fastest Train On The Block – ‘Chennai Express’ Still Leading in Second Weekend

The Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chennai Express’, directed by Rohit Shetty and co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment, seemingly bounced back as far as Box Office collections went over the second weekend.

MUMBAI: The Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chennai Express’, directed by Rohit Shetty and co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment, is still super strong at its second weekend at the ticket counter.

On Saturday and Sunday, ‘Chennai Express’ garnered approximately Rs 81 million (Rs 8.10 crore) net and 100 million (Rs 10 crore) net respectively.

As reported, ‘Chennai Express’ had opened with a bang on 9 August, with collections in the range of a whopper Rs 330 million (Rs 33 crore) net on its very first day. Day 2 and Day 3 saw collections soar to about Rs 280 million (Rs 28 crore) net and Rs 325 million (Rs 32.5 crore) net respectively. Including paid previews, the film had already crossed the Rs 1 billion (Rs 100 crore) mark by the opening weekend.

Monday and Tuesday’s collections were equally trailblazing at approximately Rs 124.1 million (Rs 12.41 crore) net and Rs 113.6 million (Rs 11.36 crore) net respectively. Wednesday and Thursday saw figures in the range of Rs 123.9 million (Rs 12.39 crore) net and Rs 192.8 million (Rs 19.28 crore) net respectively.

Friday’s collections saw a decline, with figures in the range of approximately Rs 58.6 million (Rs. 5.86 crore) net.

Nonetheless, the 10-day total for ‘Chennai Express’ stands at a staggering Rs 1.729 billion (Rs 172.9 crore). Including paid previews, this figure stands at a mammoth at approx Rs 1.7965 billion (Rs 179.65 crore) net.
