MUMBAI: Preity Zinta’s ambitious debut production, ‘Ishkq in Paris’, starring herself, Rrehan Malliek, French actress Isabelle Adjani and Shekhar Kapur has unfortunately fallen flat on Day 1, at the box office.
Directed by Prem Soni, the fluffy romantic film has not been appreciated very well by audiences, when it opened in theatres on 24 May, 2013; after a considerable delay in its release date.
On opening day, ‘Ishkq in Paris’ managed to garner only approximately Rs 4 million (40 lacs) net, a very dull figure for an A-list film. Having released on the same day as Hollywood film ‘Fast and Furious 6’ has not helped either, with the latter having set the cash registers ringing on Day 1, with collections of Rs 60 million (6 crore) net.
The poor opening figures of ‘Ishkq in Paris’ pave the way for the film to buckle under pressure from other films on offer. It looks unlikely that ‘Ishkq in Paris’ will sustain for very much longer.
