Box Office: Karle Pyaar Karle An Embarrassment; Miss Lovely Disappoints

Miss Lovely Karle Pyar Kerla Cover PicYear 2014 has not started on a very good note for Bollywood as most of the films have fallen flat at the Box Office. January 17, 2014 saw the release of Karle Pyaar Karle and Miss Lovely. Both the films are performing miserably at the Box Office.

However, one cannot be surprised at the dismal performance of Karle Pyaar Karle. But there were expectations from Ashim Ahluwalia‘s directorial debut Miss Lovely, starring Nawazuddin Siddique and former Miss India, Niharika Khan to pick up. But then it seems that the audiences are just not in the mood for a film like this.

Karle Pyaar Karle, which released with a screen count of about one thousand and also marks the debut of Shiv Darshan and Hasleen Kaur, has been an embarrassment at Box Office as the film has managed to collect approximately Rs 9.8 million (98 lakhs) nett in its first week making it the first disaster of 2014.

The only good part about Karle Pyaar Karle was Hasleen Kaur as this girl has what it takes to be in front of the camera, which means one will definitely see more of her in the future.

On the other hand the makers of Miss Lovely were hoping that their film would be a head turner and would create a good word of mouth, considering that it has been accepted in quite a few festival circuits. But then what happened was the total opposite. Miss Lovely managed to collect approximately Rs 5.6 million (56 lakhs) nett in its first week, not to forget that the film got a proper commercial release with more than four hundred prints.

Moreover, Miss Lovely was a dated film and released after being stuck in the cans for years. It is hardly surprising that the film didn’t find any takers for it.

With Jai Ho releasing this week, both Karle Pyar Karle and Miss Lovely have minimal chances to gain momentum.
