Box Office: Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon VS Calendar Girls First Day Collection

 

Kapil Sharma’s much awaited film ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’ and Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Calendar Girls’ released yesterday on the occasion of Bakri Eid. Due to the holiday, one of the films gained an advantage to boost its collection upto some extent. Although the other one couldn’t quite compete up to the mark. Winning ahead in the race is Kapil Sharma’s comedy flick ‘KKPK’.

On its first day, ‘KKPK’ has managed to collect Rs. 7.50 crores net approx (75 million). The film has done well in regions of North and Central India and Gujarat. The film will have to keep up with similar numbers to pull through the weekend without any hurdles. On the other hand, Madhur Bhandarkar’s drama ‘Calendar Girls’ has collected only Rs. 1.50 crores net approx (15 million). Bhandarkar’s film is lagging behind by a huge margin of R.s 6 crores net approx (60 million).

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’ which is an out-and-out comedy film surprised everyone on the first day with its occupancy rate. With amazingly low promotions and no media glare, Kapil Sharma’s debut film gained a good occupancy rate of 30%-35% on average. On the other hand ‘Calendar Girls’ could not manage to pull any crowd other than major city like Mumbai, as the concept of the film does not appeal to masses in general. Although both films have relatively all new entrants in main leads, ‘KKPK’ managed to pull crowd due to Kapil’s reach on Television. Actress Elli Avram of Bigg Boss fame also plays the lead role.

The film ‘KKPK’ has done well in regions of North and Central India and Gujarat. Since it was a holiday occasion on Friday, the collections came out pretty decent. Due to which a certain drop in collection over next two days will not make much difference. Although the film will have to keep up with similar numbers to pull through the weekend without any hurdles. Whereas ‘Calendar Girl’ will have to push through many difficulties to recover the massive lag.
