After witnessing a poor start on its first day, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Manjhi: The Mountain Man couldn’t pick up speed at the Box Office on its first weekend. Directed by Ketan Mehta, the biopic film on Dashrat Manjhi aka “Mountain Man” released on Friday after a long wait. Even after a lot of anticipation, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte starrer Manjhi: The Mountain Man had a poor run at the Box Office on its first weekend. After earning Rs. 1.20 crore net (12 million) approx. on its first day, the film somehow managed to collect Rs. 4.50 crore net (45 million) approx. on Saturday and Sunday.
With this, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Manjhi: The Mountain Man has earned Rs. 5.70 crore net (57 million) approx. on its first weekend. The small budget film Manjhi couldn’t succeed in grabbing audiences’ major attention, and pull them in theatres on its first weekend at the Box Office. Going by the kind of numbers film managed to pull in, Manjhi: The Mountain Man will most likely witness a drop on Monday.
The film witnessed occupancy rate of 15-20% at the Box Office, which is little poor than what Abhishek’s All Is Well witnessed. But we can’t be hard on Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Manjhi: The Mountain Man, as the film really is a small budget one with small star cast and no “Big” star power to drag the film towards glory. The film is solely depending on two very talented stars of Bollywood, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte‘s shoulders.
The film is doing a good business in circuits like Mumbai, Delhi, Bihar and UP. The word of mouth doesn’t seem to be helping Ketan Mehta’s film that well than we expected, as the film didn’t face any major growth at the Box Office on Saturday and Sunday.
Manjhi: The Mountain Man doesn’t even have a strong competitor at the Box Office apart from Abhishek Bachchan’s All Is Well. Now all eyes are on the sort of numbers Nawazuddin and Radhika’s Manjhi: The Mountain Man brings in on its first week run at the Box Office.
