MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s ‘Talaash’, directed by Reema Kagti, also featuring Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor has failed to garner the coveted Rs 100 crores at the domestic box office even after 12 days of being released.

‘Talaash’ hit screens on November 30. Even though this was no public holiday, the anticipation for the film was pretty high considering its an Aamir Khan starrer. Though the response to the 3 month pre-booking novel idea was lacklustre, the advance booking 4-5 days before the film’s released looked strong. But things didn’t quite turn out the way expected.

The opening day collection was fair to average. As we reported earlier, the first day business was of Rs 128 million (Rs 12.8 crore) net approximately. From there on, like an opened soda bottle loosing its fizz, it was all downhill. SEE REPORT

After ten days, ‘Talaash’ stood in the range of Rs 750 million (Rs 75 crore) net. The film showed drastic drops in most mass markets. Only high end multiplexes in metropolitan cities are supporting the collections.

Of course the ten day total does put the film in the higher bracket, but everybody expected the Aamir Khan starrer to have whizzed through the Rs 100 crore mark by now, effortlessly. Need we mention his previous ‘3 Idiots’?

The 11th and 12th day bring even worse news with collections of only Rs 14 million (Rs 1.40 crore) net and Rs 12.5 million (Rs 1.25 crore) net respectively.
