Box Office: Queen Is The New King At The Box Office

Poster film Main coverThe first Friday of March, saw the release of three films; Gulaab Gang, Queen and Total Siyapaa. Out of the three films the audiences have stayed away from Gulaab Gang and Total Siyapaa, while both the critics as well as the audiences have appreciated Queen.

The dismal opening is being attributed to the exam fever that has gripped the nation, due to which students and the youth have steered clear of theatres. However, in the case of Gulaab Gang, the controversy over its release has severely affected the film’s opening, since people seem to be confused whether the film has released or not.

Inspite of a slow start, Queen has shown a consistent growth at the Box Office and has managed to collect approximately Rs 159 million (15.90 crore) nett till now, though official reports are yet to come in.

Queen is doing best in the Delhi, Gurgaon and Chandigarh area. Mumbai had shown a huge jump on Sunday but collections came down on Monday but then Tuesday was better.

Coming to the other two films, Gulaab Gang and Total Siyapaa, both of them have fallen flat at the Box Office. While on one hand, Gulaab Gang has managed to collect approximately Rs 92.50 million (09.25 crore) nett on the other hand, Total Siyaapa has managed to collect about Rs 50.99 million (05.10 crore) nett till now, though official reports are yet to come in.

The combined collection of both Gulaab Gang and Total Siyapaa is less that Queen which is the only film to survive of the three. Gulaab Gang is relatively better in the mass circuits where it has higher collections than Queen even on Monday but multiplexes are extremely low.

Total Siyapaa is a Siyapaa (washout) at the Box Office. The word of mouth and reviews play crucial roles and since the talk was largely negative, the business remained low-key all through the weekend.

Tomorrow, March 14, 2014 will see the release of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sonam Kapoor starrer Bewakoofiyaan.

With too much talk about Soman’s bikini, lets see how Bewakoofiyaan does at the Box Office.
