[tps_footer]Bollywood film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ starring Salman Khan is working its magic at the box office since its release and is all set to touch another mark. After joining the 100 crore club within four days of its release, the film is now steady heading towards the 200 crore mark which it is expected to touch any time in the coming days. After its 11 days business the film has minted (Rs. 193.22 crores net approx) in its Hindi version business. With only a little ground left to cover, Rs. 200 crore mark is not that far.
In its second weekend at the box office the film collected approximately Rs. 16.18 crores net approx (161.8 millions) totaling with the previous collection to form a figure of Rs. 193.22 crores net approx. ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has however not been able to cross the record set by Salman’s previous release of the year, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, which crossed the 300 crore mark at the box office.
300 crore mark seems difficult for ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ which has exhausted most of its business due to the Diwali holiday factor. The film set a record by becoming the highest opening film ever in the history of Indian cinema by earning Rs. 39 crores net approx on its day one at the box office. After which despite steady dip in the inflow, the film managed to keep its hold due to less competition and extended holiday factor.
The best performance for ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has definitely been from Gujarat area which had Diwali holidays longer than any other place. Central India area along with Mumbai has also performed well and covered the hole left by Delhi and UP areas’ under performance. After such a splendid performance in its 11 day run, we wait to see when the film touches the 200 crore mark!
