Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year Heading To Break All Records

SRK-Record

Shah Rukh Khan‘s Happy New Year has managed to collect Rs 400 million net (Rs 40 crores) approximately at the indian box office on its first day of release. Happy New Year had a huge first weekend with collections around the 98 crore nett mark.

On day one as it was national holiday the collections were record breaking, but the next two days saw collections drop lower collecting below 30 crore nett. The weekend numbers are great, but ideally it would have been better if the film settled at above 30 crore nett on Saturday and Sunday rather than below it.

Happy New Year may take the second biggest opening ever in Overseas. The highest opening day record was held by Aamir Khan for Dhoom 3, but with Diwali being a great day for box office, Shah Rukh Khan’s film has managed to beat the numbers.

Dhoom 3 was the highest opening day for a non holiday and will still hold the title for that, Dhoom 3 (Hindi version) had collected in the range of Rs 334.2 million (33.4 crore) net . Collections of the regional versions (Tamil and Telugu) of Dhoom 3 were in the range of Rs 28 million (2.8 crore) net .

The total earnings of Dhoom 3 (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu) are in the range of Rs 362.2 million (36.22 crore) net at the indian box office which the Shah Rukh Khan starer Happy New Year has already managed to achieve.

With a global musicial SLAM campaign which not only helped garner great revenues like all Shah Rukh shows abroad, Shah Rukh also landed up promoting Happy New Year internationally through the SLAM tours globally in a very big way .

With the given figure, Shah Rukh Khan becomes the first superstar to pocket 100-cr in three days, leaving the rest two Khans, way behind him. The film had already broken opening day records previously set by Aamir and Salman, by raking in Rs.40 crore on opening day, October 24.

The master of marketing has pushed the global marketing mandate of Happy New Year along with his entire cast and crew from the United States to London, and in India as well with a dance reality show. This global marketing overdrive which will ensure not only domestic, but also overseas collections on opening day numbers for the box office king.

Overseas numbers which is any ways Khan’s strong territory and it is also all set for historic openings.

Here’s wishing the entire team of Happy New Year the very best to set the cash registers ringing and bringing more prosperity to the Indian film industry.

With King Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah coming together for a heist and dance adventure, ‘Happy New Year’ was predicted to hit the bullseye at the box office.

Stay tuned for more updates.
