Box Office: Singh Is Kinng grosses Rs 1.45 billion worldwide

MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar starrer Singh Is Kinng has grossed Rs 1.45 billion (Rs 145 crore) at the worldwide box office till date.

The film was released on 8 August on 1700 screens across India, the US, the UAE, the UK and Canada. In its opening weekend Singh is Kinng grossed Rs 595 million (Rs 59.5 crore) worldwide. Studio 18 had acquired all the rights of the film for approximately Rs 650 million (Rs 65 crore).

Singh Is Kinng was also selected for the Gala presentation at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival. The Festival is considered to be one of the leading public film festivals in the world. Singh Is Kinng was screened alongside the work of critically acclaimed filmmakers Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, Mira Nair, Brett Ratner and Caroline Link amongst others.

The screening was attended by the film’s producer, Vipul A Shah, director Anees Bazmee and Kumar, alongside The Indian Film Company’s Investment adviser CEO Sandeep Bhargava.

Bhargava said, "We are delighted that Singh Is Kinng was selected to feature at the Toronto International Film Festival, which is a testament to the international interest in the film and illustrates that independent of the film’s commercial success, it has been critically recognized in the context of an international peer group."

Singh is Kinng also stars Katrina Kaif, Kirron Kher, Sonu Sood amongst others.
