MUMBAI: As reported by businessofcinema.com, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi directed by Bela Bhansali Sehgal starring Farah Khan, Boman Irani, Kavin Dave, Shammi, Kurush Deboo and Daisy Irani took a very weak opening at the box office on its first day.
A sweet love story of an eccentric Parsi couple, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, giving work to almost every Parsi actor you might know, found takers in a very small segment of the audience. With mixed reviews, the dull performance set on the first day continued over Saturday and Sunday. The three day total of the film has settled in the range of a meagre Rs 65 million (Rs 6.5 crore) net.
In spite of an aggressive promotional strategy and positive word of mouth the film has failed to make an impact at the box office. For choreographer turned director Farah Khan, this being her first acting foray, the movie’s performance at the ticket counter held a lot of value. Needless to say that perhaps if it had not been for the mammoth release Ek Tha Tiger dominating the box office, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi could have performed marginally better.
Cine-goers have preferred to stick with the Yash Raj Film production, wooed by the all-consuming magic of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Looking at the trend, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi is not expected to show any great spikes from here on.
