Varun Dhawan‘s Badlapur succeeded in impressing the audiences on its first day itself. The film minted around Rs. 7 Crore (70 million) on its first day. The following weekend, the revenge saga thriller did amazingly well. Badlapur earned around Rs. 24 Crore (240 million) on its first weekend.

The small budget film was an image changer for Varun. Even though Badlapur is an adult film and has a dark theme to it, the film sold tickets unexpectedly well. The footfalls increased on Saturday, not only that, but the India Vs South Africa match which was on Sunday, didn’t affect film’s occupancy rate as well.

Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddique starrer film succeeded in pulling in around Rs. 8.75 Crore (88 million) on Saturday and Rs. 8.25 Crore (82 million) on Sunday at the Box Office. Even though Sriram Raghavan‘s film was not an entertainment or a comedy film but the thriller grabbed everyone’s attention in a good way. The film received positive feedbacks from critics and from the audiences. Varun Dhawan received a lot of recognition for his performance in Badlapur, however, it was Nawazuddin who stole all the thunder.

Now whether the film succeeds in maintaining consistency or not, the following week will tell.  But the way Badlapur progressed in its first weekend itself, it is expected that the film will have a steady run at the Box Office.
