Universal Pictures has promoted its long time studio production employee Erik Baiers to the position of Executive Vice President of Production. The promotion comes as a deserving step considering Erik’s 10 years of work relation with the company. After working his time as the senior VP since 2012, Erik has now been appointed as the Executive VP. In his time at the studio Erik has worked on several of Universal’s best films mainly in the genre of comedy including Bridesmaids and Knocked Up.
Co-presidents of Universal Pictures’ production Peter Carmer and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum are thrilled to have Eric on their team. Peter Carmer stated, ” This is a well-deserved promotion for Erik, who has helped steer a lot of successful films for us in the past few years, including some of our biggest comedies.” Whereas Jeffrey Kirschenbaum was of an opinion that Erik is a seasoned production executive with a keen eye for great stories and that they are tremendously lucky to have him.
Erik has previously worked on the films Knocked Up starring Seth Rogan and Katherine Heigl, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Bridesmaids. He also oversaw the production of the hit film Neighbors starring Seth Rogan, Rose Byrne and Zac Efron in lead roles. He is currently working on the film’s sequel along with other films like Everest, the trailer of which was released today. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s Sisters and Melisa McCarthy‘s Michelle Darnell are some of Erik‘s other projects.
Before joining Universal Pictures Erik Baiers was working at MGM. He started his time with Universal at their production partner company Imagine Entertainment. Erik also worked closely with Universal’s another partner Working Title Films overseeing the production of films Contraband, About Time and Oscar winning musical film Les Miserables starring Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway amongst others.
