MUMBAI: Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios’ ‘Iron Man 3’, directed by Shane Black; Starring Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, has seen the biggest ever opening for a Hollywood film this year in India.
The film, the third installment in the ultra-successful ‘Iron Man’ series, based on the comic book by Marvel, has seen an incredible respomse in first day figures, thanks to the tremendous pre-release buzz it had generated.
Day 1 figures for ‘Iron Man 3’ are in the range of Rs 77.3 million (7.73 crore) net. This is the second highest box office figure for a Hollywood film in India, after ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ in 2012, which had garnered about Rs 90 million (Rs 9 crore) net on its first day and Rs 270 million (27 crore) in its first weekend.
‘Iron Man 3’ has seen its highest performance in multiplexes metros like Mumbai and Delhi.
The film has even managed to break the language barrier, and is doing steady business in dubbed languages, especially in South India.
Already showing such promise, ‘Iron Man 3’ is only expected to grow from strength to strength over the coming weekend.
