Beijing: Films, as everyone knows, is a “visual art”. But not for blind people in China. The government has launched a project through which movies will be transformed to oral narrations for the benefit of the visually impaired.
The project was launched on July 18 at the China Braille Library in Beijing.
Four film organisations sponsoring the project have donated 100 films, and 98 of their staff have volunteered to do the transcription work, said Wang Lili, an official with the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.
Wang said most of the volunteers are filmmakers or film researchers.
The project was jointly launched by the China Film Science and Technology Research Institute, China Film Art Research Center, China Movie Channel Program Center and the Administration Center of Digital Film Content.
