Margarita, With A Straw sure has received all the praise it has deserved, which is why it was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, and has already reached the red carpet of the 58th BFI London Film Festival.
The film was screened in London at Vue West End Cinema on October 17 and is being screened at Vue Cinema Islington on 18, i.e. today.
Directed by famous Bengali film-maker Shonali Bose and produced by Viacom 18, Margarita, With A Straw is the story about a disabled girl Laila (played by Kalki Koechlin) who is in the search for love and acceptance.
The film has already received a prestigious NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award for Best Asian Film at the 39th Toronto Festival, apart from the standing ovation it received on the world movie premiere.

Kalki Koechlin looked beautiful on the London red carpet in peach formals and black stilettos. Matching hand jewelry and a black clutch completed her look. She did not overdo her look with a lot of jewelery and kept it classy for the taste of the audiences present.
Malini Chib, a disabled person like Laila from the movie Margarita, With A Straw seemed to be an inspiration for the movie. Malini has even penned a book One Little Finger over the period of 2 years, typing it only with her little finger.
The director Shonali Bose is known to target sensitive subjects. Her earlier movie Amu expanded on the suppressed, little-known history of the genocidal attacks on Sikhs in Delhi in 1984. Margarita, With A Straw takes a look at same-sex relationships.
Margarita, With A Straw also features Sayani Gupta (as the female partner of Laila), veteran Indian actress Revathy (as Laila’s mother) and William Moseley (who is Laila’s charming friend).
Wide Management being the international sales agent, the lyrics of the movie is adapted by famous Indian film personality Prasoon Joshi.
