Late actor Paul Walker’s brother Cody Walker is soon to share screen space with Nicolas Cage in an upcoming Hollywood film World War II action drama film USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage.
With this, Cody Walker has landed his first major role in Hollywood film. Cody is a licensed paramedic and he first stepped into Hollywood in film Furious 7 to complete the remaining scenes of his brother Paul Walker, after the actor was killed in a 2013 car crash. The film will be directed by Mario Van Peebles, who’ll be going through the script by Cam Cannon and Hannibal Classic principal Richard Rionda Del Castro. The film will be produced by Rionda Del Castro and Michael Mendelsohn.
Cody has signed his first major film after only this signing a deal with the Paradigm agency this year. In his upcoming film USS Indianapolis, Cody Walker will be seen in a major supporting role. Saban Films acquired the U.S. rights of the film during Cannes.
The upcoming action drama film features Nicolas Cage as the real naval Captain Charles Butler McVay, who struggled to keep his fellow crewmen alive after the ship was torpedoed by the Japanese Navy in the South Pacific in July 1945. Cage, along with his crewmen was on a secret mission to deliver parts for the first atomic bomb. Their mission was classified so the Indianapolis was not reported missing until four days later.
Based on a true story, approximately 300 men went down with the ship, whereas the others were left battling dehydration, shark attacks and saltwater poisoning as they waited for help to be rescued. Cody Walker will ace the role of one of the crewmen but it is still not revealed whether his character in the film survives or not.
The cast also includes Tom Sizemore and Thomas Jane. The film is scheduled to be released in 2016.
