LONDON: Sylvester Stallone is working very hard for assembling the third installment of ‘The Expendables’ franchise and has taken to twitter to drop in a few hints of what’s going on.
Stallone, who is currently busy writing the script for ‘The Expendables 3’ is hoping to bring in a string of new cast members. He tweeted: “Writing EX3 at the moment… EX3 needs new blood and more humour. No S. Seagal, sorry, but maybe we get lucky with J. Chan! And some young bloods!!!”
The 66 year old actor further tweeted:“By young I mean 22 to 27. Not big bruisers but tech wizard, super brains and a young woman who is not a sex symbol but funny, tough, real (sic)”
Stallone told his fans that there are going to be a lot of surprises in the third installment of this action franchise and that they should be ready to expect a lot of humour: “Here are going to be mountains of surprises… The films were always meant to be more on the humorous side with moments of drama (sic)”
‘The Expendables- 3’ will star Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Hemsworth, Dolph Lundgren and Jet Li. But unfortunately, the ‘80s action star Steven Seagal will not be joining the cast for this particular go-around.
Jackie Chan was heard saying at a press conference for ‘Chinese Zodiac’ last year that Stallone had approached him to star in ‘The Expendables 2’ and although he wanted to sign on, Chan decided to hold out for a meatier role while preparing his final death-defying feature.
“Sly had invited me to be in ‘Expendables 2′ but I was too busy filming ‘Chinese Zodiac’ and couldn’t make a commitment to the film,” Jackie Chan explained. “But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes.” He added.
‘The Expendables 2’ became more popular with movie-goers overseas than it was in the States. The film only earned around $ 85 million in the US, but it generated a whopping $ 200 Million in foreign markets.
Stallone is yet to announce when ‘The Expendables 3’ will find its way to the theatres. However, it looks like Sylvester Stallone will do his part to keep fans up-to-date about the film.
