‘The Smurfs 2’ To Have 162 Blue Carpet Premieres

CALIFORNIA: Peyo began the journey of ‘Smurfs’ in 1958 with a series of comic books. Years later the blue characters have made it to the list of favourite characters across the globe. Their portrayal on small and big screen in the form of ‘The Smurfs’ movie has created a lot of interest in the film’s sequel, ‘The Smurfs 2’, which is set to release worldwide on 31 July.

But the makers have planned a special never-before-heard of a premiere for the film. ‘The Smurfs 2’ will have not one but 162 premieres across several nations coinciding with the ‘Smurf Super Sunday’ on 28 July.

Through this series of special events the studio, Columbia Pictures a part of Sony Pictures will roll nearly 11000 feet of blue carpet in top 50 cities of America and across 60 International markets where ‘The Smurfs’ is set to release on 31 July.

Some countries which will witness this epic moment are: Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia amongst others.

Marc Weinstock, President of Worldwide Marketring, Sony Pictures said, “With 162 blue-carpet premiers occurring day-and-date all over the world, ‘Super Smurf Sunday’ is an outstanding way to kick start the final phase of ‘The Smurfs’ promotional activity. No matter where you live, you won’t be far from our events.”

With such a large activity being planned, ‘The Smurfs’ seems to have just got more closer towards its fans. Never has the buzz for an animated film been so huge and one can only look forward to its box-office response, once the film hits screens.

‘The Smurfs’ produced by Jordan Kerner, Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation and directed by Raja Gosnell will release worldwide on 31 July.
