Angry Birds Rio game sees 10 million downloads in 10 days

MUMBAI: Rovio’s Angry Birds Rio, the movie-branded follow-up to mobile mega-hit Angry Birds, has been downloaded 10 million times in the 10 days since its 22 March release. That’s a new record for the company, whose Angry Birds mobile game has catapulted past 100 million downloads in the past 16 months.

In Angry Birds, players use the touchscreen of the iPhone or Android smartphone to slingshot cute Angry Bird characters at evil green pigs, who have stolen the birds’ eggs. Destroying the birds fortresses with the birds gets harder and harder as the physics of the attacks becomes more complicated.

The Angry Birds Rio game is a new version that includes characters from Rio, the 3D animated movie, which is slated to release in India on 8 April in English and Hindi.
