Mumbai: Ann Junod Burkart has joined Sony Pictures Entertainment as vice president for global communications. The announcement was made by Sony Pictures executive vice president global communications Jim Kennedy, to whom she will report.
"Burkart has extensive experience in corporate communications involving both technology and entertainment, and that is a really valuable combination at this time of change in our industry," said Kennedy. In her new position, Burkart will help lead corporate media relations for the company.
"I am proud to be joining the Sony Pictures team," said Burkart. "This is an organization that has a strong heritage in industry innovation, and I’m excited to help the company as it continues to extend its leadership internationally and technologically."
Most recently, Burkart served as vice president corporate communications at Fox Interactive Media (FIM), News Corporation’s online division. In that position, she was chief spokesperson for the business and oversaw media relations for a number of FIM properties.
Prior to that, she worked for a number of years at AOL, serving in communications positions that involved the company’s AOL Music group and the AOL Radio Network. Burkart began her career in communications at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, working on media relations for Microsoft.
