Blockbuster installs disc repair machines

Mumbai: Video rental chain Blockbuster has installed a local company’s disc repair machines in each retail location throughout Canada and the UK.

The 12-year-old Disc Go Technologies was started by Mark Chaplin who saw a common dilemma with scratched CDs becoming unusable and found a smart solution for this annoying problem. The company now sells a full range of disc repair and verification machines that remove scratches from CDs, DVDs (including the new Blu-ray format) and most Video Game Discs. It has sold thousands of machines worldwide.

Blockbuster will be using the Disc Go Devil repair machine in each of its retail locations starting the first quarter of 2008. The company will use the machines to repair the scratched discs in their rental library and potentially offering disc repair as a service to its clients.
