Pink Floyd founder member Richard Wright dies at 65

MUMBAI: Rock band Pink Floyd’s founding member Richard Wright, who played  the piano and synthesizer, died on 15 September. Wright, aged 65, was suffering from cancer and passed away in his home.

The other founder members of the band were singer-guitarist Syd Barrett, singer-bassist Roger Waters and singer-guitarist David Gilmour.

Wright quit Pink Floyd in 1980 following their tour supporting the double album The Wall due to increasing tension within the band members. However, he rejoined the band a few years later.

The rocker is survived by sons Ben and Jamie, daughter Gala and a grandson.
