Mumbai: Warner Music Group has promoted Stephen Bryan to senior vice president, digital strategy and business development.
Based in New York, Bryan will report to Digital Strategy and Business Development executive vice president Michael Nash.
His responsibilities include working with senior management to create and implement WMG’s digital strategy, develop new business models and digital products, negotiate and execute key deals, and build global relationships with strategic partners, including digital retailers, wireless carriers, handset manufacturers, ISPs and social media networks.
"I have worked with Stephen for more than eight years and with each passing year have been more and more impressed with his commitment to innovation in the development of new business models and partnership constructs. It is a great advantage for us to have a seasoned executive with his passion for the business, knowledge of the landscape and capability to execute complex deals to help us drive our digital strategy to the next level," said Nash.
Bryan has been a key member of the team that has grown WMG’s digital revenue from virtually zero in 2004 to 21% of total revenue in the second quarter of fiscal 2008. He has played a significant role in WMG’s major digital deals, including the recent licensing of WMG music to Nokia’s "Comes With Music" offering, its joint venture agreement with My Space Music, and MP3 commercial deals with Real and Verizon, among many others.
In addition, Bryan has been working on the company’s efforts to develop an array of distribution models covering social media networks, ISPs, wireless network operators and mobile handset manufacturers. Bryan joined WMG in 1997 as a manager in Strategic Planning and Development.
