BIG FM bags four awards at NYF Radio Awards

MUMBAI: BIG 92.7 FM has won honours in four categories at the New York Festival (NYF) Radio Broadcasting Awards 2007.


According to the station, BIG 92.7 FM was the only radio station from India to get shortlisted, and went on to win in four categories. There were a total of 106 entries from India, it is learnt.


The Best Sports Coverage award was bagged for the Big Cup, hosted by noted cricket guide Harsha Bhogle and actor Shekhar Suman, while RJ Anirudh of ‘Anirudh LLB’ won the Best Personality: Local Coverage award. The station also won the award for Best writing for the Hum BIG 92.7 FM promo, and the Best Station promotion award for the Hum BIG 92.7 FM promo.


The New York Festivals Radio Programming and Promotion Awards recognizes the world’s best work in Radio programming and promotion.


According to the station, the ‘BIG Cup’ coverage was aimed at providing wholesome entertainment and was aired throughout the Cricket World Cup this year. It had the station’s morning shows featuring the purist form of the sport by Harsha Bhogle before the start of the day’s match and the evening shows by Shekhar Suman titled ‘BIG Googly’ which focused purely on the fun and amusing side of the match.


RJ Anirudh Chawla was nominated in the ‘Best Personality: Local Market category’ on the basis of his emotional link with the local audience in Mumbai. He hosts the 3-6 pm show on weekdays titled Anirudh LLB (Love Ladkiya and Bollywood). RJ Anirudh was hugely popular for supporting the cause of an HIV+ patient who was introduced to a whole lot of friends/listeners through his program as well as through off air initiatives of the company.


The Hum BIG 92.7 promo which has been nominated for both script and programming in the Best Writing and Station Promotion category related with listeners by bringing the city alive and featuring emotional and expressive sounds.
