Composer Babla cuts folk based album

MUMBAI: Babla, the youngest sibling and assistant to Kalyanji- Andandji also known for his Navratri stage shows has recently cut a folk based album – Babla Disco Dandia – Desi.


 


The album was released earlier at selective places in Gujarat and boasts of singers like Khailash Kher and Sonu Kakkad.


 


Says Babla, “This is first time I have used only traditional folk music in my dandia compositions. It feels great to contribute to this great celebration in my own way”.


 


The composer is also reviving his stage troupe with ‘Young Idols’ (a stage show showcasing young talent) and plans to re-enter the film music arena.


 


Babla’s career as an independent music director includes movies like Hero Hiralal. He has also composed music for title tracks of Johnny Mera Naam and Don and songs like zindagi ka safar (Safar), kaike pan banaras wala (Don), aye mera dil (Don).



He teamed up with his wife Kanchan to form the Babla and Kanchan troupe and have conducted over 1000 shows worldwide. His dandia stage shows and albums have also got him acclaim.
