MUMBAI: Eros International Media has entered into a strategic tie-up with T Series for a part of its forthcoming music slate. The licensing deal will allow Eros to monetize some of its new music titles upfront while T Series will push the distribution in physical and digital formats as well as through radio, television and public performance during the term. Some of the titles included are the yet to be released Anjana Anjaani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra with music by Vishal and Shekhar, Ra.One starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor with music by Vishal and Shekhar and Rock Star starring Ranbir Kapoor with music by A R Rehman.
Eros will retain the rights to exploit the music videos on its own Eros branded digital platforms and services including, but not limited to cable and Internet throughout the term. Eros will also continue to monetize its music catalogue which does not form part of the current deal with T Series.
Eros International Media managing director Sunil Lulla said, “T Series is one of the established players in the music domain while Eros is an established player in film content and distribution. It made sense for the two companies to join hands and work together on the music strategy. In this way, T Series can get access to some of our forthcoming releases while Eros can take advantage of a monetisation model through this alliance as our new films will benefit from the T Series catalogue and vice versa.”
Pre-sales done through the recently announced television syndication deal with Star as well as the T Series music licensing deal have given the Company visibility on distribution for 2011 and 2012.
