Radio Mirchi tops IRS Q1 2010 with 41.2 million listeners

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi emerged the clear leader with over 41.2 million listeners as per the recently published Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Q1, 2010, week after recall data released by the Media Research Users Council (MRUC).

The survey also places Radio Mirchi, at the top of the list in the key markets of the country. Radio Mirchi tops the charts with the largest cumulative listenership of 15.1 million in the eight key cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune and Ahmedabad. Mirchi’s listenership in these cities is more the twice the size of the next player. Even geographically Radio Mirchi has triumphed across West, North, East and Central India.

Radio Mirchi Strategy and Marketing EVP Sujata Bhatt said, "We welcome the IRS, Q1 data. As has been the case in previous IRS reports we have a huge lead over the next player, which in this round – Q1 is almost 100% ! We are also the clear No.1 in the top 8 cities, markets most valuable for advertisers .IRS had added a higher level of detail in IRS Q2,2010 which proved quite insightful. With the frequency of reporting now becoming quarterly, I am sure media companies, agencies and clients would be able to derive even more value from it. IRS still is the only survey which gives an accurate national perspective on radio listenership."
