Rahman is Saregama’s brand ambassador

MUMBAI: HMV Saregama India has appointed music maestro AR Rahman as its new brand ambassador. This is the first time in the company’s 106-year-old history that it has appointed an ambassador.


The company is planning to have a television talent hunt show called Ooh La La La in search of a new band on Sun TV. According to HMV Saregama India managing director Subroto Chattopadhyay, the show will have 13 episodes and Rahman will be one of the jury member for the same along with singer Vasundhara Das.


The criteria and challenge for selection would be that each band compose music for the lyrics of Vaalee who will write on the theme of “Hope.”


The talent hunt will be across the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and auditions will take place in the Tamil Nadu cities of Chennai, Trichy, Salem, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore and Andhra Pradesh cities of Hyderabad, Tirupathi, Rajahmundhri, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.


The talent hunt winner will get to cut a Tamil album for Saregama.
