Rahman releases Ghai’s Black & White music

MUMBAI: A R Rahman released the music of Subhash Ghai’s latest directorial venture Black and White on 24 Januray, which also happens to be occasion of Ghai’s birthday. The music has been composed by Sukhvinder Singh and lyrics penned by Ibrahim Ashk. Gulzar and Ashok Amritraj were also present at the occasion.

Black and White stars Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah and Anurag Sinha. It is the story of a terrorist and his journey to accomplish his ‘one’ mission in life… a journey that lasts for 15 days in the heart of Delhi’s Chandni Chowk and changes his life radically. The movie is housed under Mukta Searchlight.

Commenting on the music of the film Ghai said, “Making this movie was new to me at various levels, music of the film was rather difficult to score. The music has been used primarily in the background rather than in song-and-dance numbers. Sukhvinder’s music lifts the film to a much higher level altogether.”

After making larger-than-life movies for 30 years, Ghai has made an art house movie for the first time, which he says was very challenging. “People always expect my films to be larger than life. This is the first time I have made a meaningful movie and it has been very challenging. It is on a smaller scale with limited budget.”

The film is slated to release on 7 March.
