Rock On music sales outcome gives fillip to Big Music

Mumbai: ‘Do not download the music. Buy the CD’- was the message conveyed by the makers of Rock On just before the end credit of the film rolls. It was a simple yet strong appeal to all the people who watched the movie.

And not surprisingly… "The sale of Rock On audio CDs a week after the movie’s release is equal to the entire sales seven weeks before the release of the movie. So one can imagine how well the album is selling. It is currently the highest selling album at retail counters," says Big Music CEO Kulmeet Makkar.

Makkar further informs that at few multiplexes across the country like Imax, Cinemax, Inox and PVR in Mumbai, Chennai, Noida and Bengaluru, Rock On audio CDs have also been kept for sale at the exit gates of the movie auditoriums. "People have liked the music of Rock On so much that they want to buy the music immediately after the movie gets over, so we thought we should capitalize on this and make due arrangements," informs Makkar.

Rock On’s music album also stood at number 13 on last week’s iTunes US World Music chart. "Music has no boundaries. This is probably the first time; an Indian album has reached so high up on the iTunes charts," adds producer Ritesh Sidhwani.

To add to this, three songs from Rock On- title song Rock On, Socha Hai and Pichle Saat Dinon Main are also doing well on mobile downloads. The songs are on the favourite lists of RJs across radio stations.

Rock On’s music has been given by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with lyrics by Jaaved Akhtar.Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy and Farhan Akhtar even performed live in Delhi last week after the film release at Select City Mall.
