T-Series bags Shaka Laka Boom Boom music

MUMBAI: T-Series has acquired the music rights of producer-director Suneel Darshan’s Shaka Laka Boom Boom.

Sources say the deal with T-Series has come about after a considerable period of turbulence for the maker. “Akshay Kumar was Suneel Darshan’s favourite. But after a few flops and differences, Darshan opted Bobby Deol in Shaka Laka Boom Boom, but the film faced rough weather during its filming in South Africa,” sources say.

Darshan then wanted to revive his own music company, Krishna Music to release the film’s music, but his finances did not allow the venture to see the light of day, add sources. A rocking title number compiled by music director Himesh Reshammiya finally tilted the scales and resulted in T-Series acquiring the film’s music, aver sources.

Shaka Laka Boom Boom stars Bobby Deol, Upen Patel, Celina Jaitley and Kangana Ranaut.

The Akshay Kumar – Suneel Darshan liason started with the 1991 film Janwar, followed by Ek Rishta: The Bond of Love in 2001 and Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya Hai in 2002, which did well at the box-office.

But after a row of flops beginning with Talaash: The Hunt Begins in 2003 and Dosti: Friends Forever in 2005 and Mere Jeevan Saathi in 2006, Darshan opted to cast Bobby Deol in his new film. Deol and Darshan had earlier worked together for Barsaat… A Sublime Love Story in 2005, which was an average earner at the box-office.
