MUMBAI: Producers, distributors and exhibitors Bharat Shah and Vinay Choksey currently control 18 cinemas in the Bombay circuit.
Says Shah, “It helps to have a proper chain of select theatres where you can book your film for proper screenings, if you hold the distribution rights of the Bombay circuit.”
Vinay Choksey says, “We are responsible for bookings of films in the cinema halls that we control, even though we are not the distributors. Others too can avail of this chain.”
VIP Exhibitors, the firm owned by Choksey and Shah, controls Maratha Mandir (Mumbai Central), Deepak (Deliesle Road), Sharda (Dadar), Gaiety – Galaxy – Gemini (Bandra), Sun City (Vile Parle), Deep Mandir (Mulund), Anand (Thane), Rassraj (Mira Road), Prakash (Palghar), Moreshwar (Pen), Sunder and Gandhi (Mahad), Rajlaxmi (Satara), Mahesh (Ahmednagar), Uma (Solapur) and Valentine (Surat).
