YBR to launch its first music album

MUMBAI: On 27 November, music stores across the country will make additional space on their counters as Super Cassettes Industries’ new music label YBR will launch its first ever non-filmi music album ‘Ustad and the Divas’. While Sultan Khan saab is the ‘Ustad’ of the album, Chitra, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal are the ‘Divas’ in it. The song ‘Leja Leja’ from the album rendered by Ustad and Shreya Ghoshal is currently being aired on music channels.


 


At the age of 70, Ustad is still going strong. Speaking to Businessofcinema.com Ustad Sultan Khan said, “All songs in the album are primarily Hindustani music and are a perfect balance between classic sung by me and pop by the ladies.” Ustad and the Divas is Khan’s first album with Super Cassettes Industries. Prior to this his album ‘Piya Basanti’ was with Sony BMG.


 


The album has a total of six songs. While Sunidhi Chauhan had a chance to sing three songs with Ustad, Chirta has two songs and Shreya sung one. Music of the album is by Sandesh Sandilya and lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil. The music arrangement is by Salim Sulaiman who were once Ustad’s students and trained under him.


 


The YBR label will target all non-filmi songs except devotional songs. Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, will be the creative directors and CEO of the label. The albums under the YBR label will be up market label and the pricing will be higher than the albums sold under the T-Series.


 


Furthermore YBR label will launch English songs, distribute Hollywood titles on DVDs and VCDs out of which a major chunk is going to be children’s repertoire. They will produce full length feature films as well. Celebrity and artist management will also be done under this label.
