Bollywood star Sridevi who recently appeared in the film ‘Puli’ starring Vijay has filed a case against the film’s producers. Apparently there have been some delays in a part of her remuneration, for which the actress has now taken a legal action. Sridevi made a comeback with the film ‘Puli’ which did not work wonders critically. Her role as Queen Yavanarani was not welcomed well by fans and audiences alike.
Reportedly Sridevi had agreed to the film for a whooping remuneration of Rs. 6 crores. And the case filed by the actress is for a remaining sum of Rs. 50 lakhs that the producers have not paid her yet. The film released on October 1, 2015 and it has been more than a month since the box office collections were received. Although ‘Puli’ did not receive good reviews, the film did splendid in its collections. Chimbu Deven directed ‘Puli’ and apart from Vijay and Sridevi, it starred actress Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani and Kannada star Sudeep Kiccha.
Sridevi has filed a legal complaint against SKT Productions for her outstanding payment. Although the actress herself has not openly stated the same, Puli’s producer Shibu Thameens tweeted revealing that the filmmakers will soon be meeting to discuss further on the matter. Thameens tweeted, “Will clarify Sridevi mam complaint ,postpone my surgery tomorrow nd joining my partner pts in chennai.”
‘Puli’ was earlier in controversy when prior to the film’s release, an Income Tax raid was conducted on Vijay, as well as producers P.T. Selvan and Shibu Thameens. Details of the raid conducted on producers did not surface, but after raid at Vijay’s place it was found that the actor has been evading tax since past five years. According to the statement, Vijay had been paying tax every year but not the full amount. A sum of around 25 crores has been evaded altogether by all the people whose houses were raided.
