As a special treat for Sridevi’s 48th birthday, producer R Balki and debutant director Gauri Shinde released a three minute trailer of their upcoming movie English Vinglish.
Marked as Sridevi’s comeback movie after a 14-year sabbatical, the trailer reminds us why Sridevi is a superstar!
She plays the role of her mother who “was born to make laddoos”. Faced with language problems in a foreign country, the trailer showcases her journey to learning the language to win the respect of her husband and family. Snippets of how she fumbles with the language, sentence structure, and pronunciation make for an adorable view. Her husband and children find every opportunity to make fun of her on the subject, making her feel inadequate.
On the encouragement of her niece, who makes her see that she was not born to just make laddoos, Sridevi’s character enrols in an English speaking class. Thus beguns her transformation into a confident woman.
The movie also stars French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain, and Priya Anand and will release in theatres on 5 October.
