Song Review: Asalaam-E-Ishqum From Gunday Fails To Impress

Gunday-5[tps_footer]Gunday latest song release Asalaam-E-Ishqum featuring the hot and happening Priyanka Chopra is sensuous, raunchy and hot. But it fails to impress.

After belting out melodies like Saaiyaan and Jiya, Asalaam-E-Ishqum sung by Bappi Lahiri and Neha Bhasin is a huge let down.

One look at the video of this club number and it is very apparent that the visuals are purely there to titillate the male audience. Priyanka’s seductive moves makes her look smoking hot. And all that Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor do is drool and ogle at her. All this manages to achieve is that it makes the entire thing look vulgar and cheap.

The highlight of this song, if any, is Priyanka Chopra. Wearing skimpy outfits, the actress is seen oozing oomph and style in the song.

Priyanka Chopra, who plays a cabaret dancer, sets the dance floor ablaze in shimmery corset with very tiny black shorts and black garter stockings.

The worst visual, however, is Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor drinking wine from the same heart shaped glass.

What is funny about Asalaam-E-Ishqum is the fact that the lyrics have a mujra feel to it, and yet the song is way too pacey and outfits are too modern.  Also I wonder – the film is set in the 70’s. Did women wear bikini tops then? Was it in fashion?

At the end of it, this song, or item number if you wish, could have been totally avoided.
