Song Review: Patakha Guddi From Highway Shows Rahman’s Brilliance

Film Highway 04

[tps_footer]Looks like A.R. Rahman is back with a bang because the song Patakha Guddi from film Highway leaves you breathless. Leave alone the visuals or the lyrics or Alia Bhatt – the music is so fresh and rustic, it leaves you with a feeling of asking for more.

For me Patakha Guddi works majorly in the way it has been orchestrated. It has an old time charm to it, yet sounds modern and contemporary. The Punjabi infused lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil and the amazingly vocals by Nooran Sisters – Jyoti and Sultana perfectly complements the music.

The song is a young girl’s journey across India and the fun she has along the way. Alia looks very chirpy, young, fresh and totally in character. Though the story has nothing fresh to offer, one can confidently say that the look and feel of the film is very fresh.

WATCH HIGHWAY – PATAKHA GUDDI VIDEO:

The film is on a journey of a girl who goes through a lot of emotional as well as physical twists and turns, as she travels through various states with her abductors. Love blooms, and she eventually falls in love with the man who abducted her. The  film has been shot in six states of North India, and it captures the landscape of those regions very beautifully.

This is not the first time that A.R. Rahman has teamed up with Imtiaz Ali. One still cannot forget the melodies of Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar. Imtiaz was very sure that he needed Rahman to be a part of the film and was happy that he agreed. He feels that this movie needed him more than ever before.

Highway is set to release on February 21, 2014. Directed by Imitiaz Ali, the film stars Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt.

All said and done, I cannot wait to hear the entire album on a Highway, sitting by a bonfire with a hot cup of coffee.[/tps_footer]
