Song Review: Saaiyaan From Gunday Has A Soul

Gunday 08[tps_footer]Saaiyaan from Gunday is an emotional, soulful song that haunts you. Its a must hear for all romantics as it transports you into another world.

The song has great melody by Sohail Sen, well written lyrics by Irshad Kamil. But what makes the song really memorable and creates a strong impact is the voice of Shahid Mallya. His voice blends very well with the theme of the song.

Both Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Kapoor look the part of star crossed lovers in pain. The duo portrays the intense emotions of love, longing and separation, experienced by both of them.

Arjun looks his intense, romantic best while gazing into the eyes of his lady love. The song hints at Priyanka Chopra breaking up with both her lovers Ranveer and Arjun who fall in love with her.

Without any doubt, this emotional track of Gunday, which has some Sufi elements to it, is the most soul stirring song from the film. It is sure to bring a lump to your throat and it will make you shed a tear or two.

The film has a distinct retro look.

White recreating the authenticity of Calcutta of the 1970s, director and writer, Ali Abbas Zafar also introduces us to the then prevalent world of cabaret dancing. Priyanka Chopra plays the role of Nandita, the gorgeous cabaret dancing of Gunday.
