Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee are living up to their small screen image of the benevolent mythical characters.
Gurmeet and Debina will be parents soon. No, Debina is not pregnant. They couple has adopted two girls from Gurmeet’s hometown Jarampur, Bihar.
According to a report in TOI, they have adopted two girls, Pooja and Lata whom Gurmeet met 3 years ago when they were in Jarampur attending a family wedding. It was his mother who planted the noble idea in his mind. His parents told him about Pooja, an orphan and her first cousin Lata whose father passed away. Due to this life altering event, the two girls moved in with a distant relative and they used to work as domestic help to sustain their livelihood.
“After hearing about their plight from my mother I discussed them with my wife. Debina agreed with me that it was time to give the kids a home, a deserving education and my last name,” Gurmeet was quoted saying.

So it means that the girls will soon be moving in with the couple? Seems like not anytime soon. They want the girls to have a smooth transition from a small town into a big city. They don’t want the girls to face any kind of cultural shock and therefore as advised by friends and counselors, Gurmeet and Debina have decided to send the girls to a school in Patna, which is comparatively a bigger city that Jarampur, where they will study for a year.
“After one academic year, they will shift in with us in our Andheri home by 2018. My brother and his family live in Patna and they will be around to see that they are well cared for. Debina and I will travel to Patna three-four times in the year and stay there through their summer vacation too,” the actor was quoted saying to the daily.
The couple has been married for almost 6 years and there were constantly asked questions about starting a family. “All the paperwork is done. We will be going to Jarampur for the final signatures after Holi. It is a two-day process.Everybody, including my parents, keep asking me when I’m planning a baby. Well, it’s official now, I’m bringing home two daughters and we couldn’t be more excited,” he added further.
